On February 15, 2023, USDA published two memos 1) regarding the end of offiste monitoring and 2) regarding emergency shelter reimbursement for 19-24 year olds.
CACFP 02-2023- Offsite Monitoring of the Child and Adult Care Food Program and School Meal Programs After the Public Health Emergency Ends
The memo basically states that the requirements of onsite monitoring are set to resume on June 10, 2023, which is thirty days after the public health emergency is set to end. There are some exceptions for states that asked for state-specific waivers, those will expire on June 30, 2023 (California is one of those states).
CACFP 03-2023- Reimbursement for Meals and Snacks Served at Child and Adult Care Food Program Emergency Shelters After the Public Health Emergency Ends
This memo states that CACFP reimbursement for young people between the ages of 19 and 24 in emergency shelters will end the day the Public Health Emergency ends, which is set to end on May 11, 2023.
