Updates from the California Department of Social Services (CDSS)

The updates below were shared by CDSS at the CACFP Roundtable at the September 22, 2022, Monthly Member Meeting.

  • Permanent Single Agreements (PSA) are due September 30, 2022, and should be submitted through the PSA Submission Survey found here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6928320/PSA. The completed PSAs must include all 32 pages, otherwise, they will be returned. CDSS has been receiving a significant number of incorrect PSA, specifically School Nutrition Program PSAs for the California Department of Education (CDE). Please note, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is no longer with the CDE, and only the CACFP PSA will be accepted.

  • The Universal Entity ID (UEI) Survey should be submitted using the UEI Submission Survey found here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6899228/CACFB-UEI-DUNS-Survey. The CDSS understands there are delays with Sam.gov and UEI registration is moving slowly. Sponsors should work with their specialists to ensure UEI delays don’t impact 2022-23 application approvals. As soon as a UEI has been assigned for your agency, please provide it via the UEI survey. Note that all agencies must have a UEI on file. CDSS continues to receive questions from various sponsor types stating they should be exempt from the UEI. That is not correct. All sponsors must have a UEI, just as they previously were required to have a DUNS number.

  • For Day Care Home (DCH) sponsors, please note that the Administrative Budget and Management Plan documents were due September 10, 2022. DCH agencies must submit the CACFP application packet in the CNIPS (excluding the budget and management plan) before October 31, 2022.

  • General Annual Update reminders include following instructions and reviewing forms thoroughly to prevent unnecessary delays with application approvals. Remember to be patient and kind to your specialists as they are working as quickly as possible.
