National Nutrition Month and CACFP Week

It's that time of year when we recognize the importance of nutrition in our lives and communities. One week of this month is focused on our favorite federal nutrition program that ensures children receive food in child care settings and child care providers have a much needed financial support in doing so. The one week focused on CACFP in March 14th through the 20th this year. Here are some resources featured for National Nutrition Month and CACFP Week!

Things to do during National Nutrition Month and CACFP Week:

  • EatRight.org (powered by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) has resources to help us talk about eating nutritious meals and foods as well as talk about it. EatRight's initiative this year is to focus on personalizing your plate - there is not just one way to eat healthy. (link)

  • Join the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag #nationalnutritionmonth. There are a lot of great conversations and resources being shared here. (you don't need a twitter account or know how to use it. Just click here and scroll!

  • For CACFP week, the National CACFP Sponsors Association (NCA) has resources you can use to talk about CACFP throughout the week and they have the beloved Sesame Street puppets on them. (link)

  • Join the National CACFP Forum, Feeding America and FRAC at the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference March 16th through the 18th for updates on policy and practice in CACFP and hear from the Secretary of USDA, Tom Vilsack!
