Today, February 1, The California Department of Education (CDE) sent an electronic communication to program operators regarding the emergency funding in the last stimulus bill covering the months of April, May, June and half of March.
See below:
Dear Program Operators,
On January 26, 2021, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service released policy memo SP 06-2021, CACFP 05-2021 Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Emergency Operating Costs During COVID-19: Implementation Guidance for State Agencies. This memo provides an overview of the funding made available to state agencies through the Consolidated Appropriations Act for program operators of the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) for the purposes of partial reimbursement of emergency operating costs incurred from mid-March to June 2020 due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency.
The policy memo describes the two temporary reimbursement programs, the School Programs Emergency Operational Costs Reimbursement Program and the CACFP Emergency Operational Costs Reimbursement Program through which funds will be provided to state agencies for reimbursement to program operators.
In order to participate, the California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) must submit an implementation plan by April 26, 2021, for approval by the USDA. Funds for both programs must be distributed by January 31, 2022.
The CDE NSD will continue to keep you apprised of our progress with the implementation plan and funds disbursement during the monthly Town Hall updates and by electronic communications.
The CDE will also provide additional information and communications including a Management Bulletin as additional details are available.
Thank you.
