CACFP Emergency Funds: CDE/NSD Powerpoints from Trainings

Updated: Jun 20, 2021

Revised June 18, 2021

During the last week of May, the California Department of Education (CDE) Nutrition Services Division (NSD) held a training regarding eligibility and processes for the Emergency Operational Costs Reimbursement (ECR) Program. Here is the powerpoint for your viewing pleasure.

ECR Training for Sponsors of Family Child Care Homes and Sponsors of Unaffiliated (aka: Sponsors of Independent Centers)

Day Care Home Sponsors and Sponsors of Unaffiliated/Independent Centers play an important role in helping their qualifying sites and providers participate in this voluntary program. On May 24th, CDE Nutrition Services Division (NSD) hosted a training session for CACFP sponsoring organizations to provide greater detail on their role in this program and to provide a snapshot of how this program will be implemented in California.

Important Notes:

1. Independent Centers - those of you with one center that work directly with the state do not need to do the process for which the training was intended.

2. The California Department of Education (CDE) will calculate and disburse funds available through this program directly to Sponsors of Affiliated Centers (aka Center Sponsors) that maintain a single aggregated budget and who do not disburse funds to sites. These centers do not need to complete the processes described in this training.

3. More information on this program can be found on the CDE’s website, COVID-19 Guidance in the Child Nutrition Programs, Reimbursement Tab: https://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/nu/cnpcovid19guidance.asp

4. For additional questions, please reach out to the CDE at ECR@cde.ca.gov.

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) operators may be eligible for the CACFP Emergency Operational Costs Reimbursement (ECR) Program. This program provides additional funding to qualifying CACFP programs that experienced operational losses during March-June 2020 due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.
