Action Opportunity to comment on USDA's collection of information: Survey FCCH Participation Study

USDA FNS is conducting research to understand the barriers to participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) by family child care providers. When government agencies do research such as this, a collection of information, they are required to put the study up for public comment and read those comments. This is not a controversial study. The CACFP Roundtable supports it and believes it is essential for USDA FNS to understand the barriers of participation in CACFP. You can learn more about the study here. However, it is important to engage with our government officials whenever we can to continue to educate the community, including our government officials, about the perspectives on the ground when operating these essential programs.

You can read the CACFP Roundtable's comments here.

The last day to comment is February 28th (3 days from now!)

In particular, what USDA wants to know for this comment opportunity is:

Title: Family Day Care Home (FDCH) Participation Study.

(a) Whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the agency's estimate of the burden of the proposed collection of information, including the validity of the methodology and assumptions that were used;

(c) ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected; and

(d) ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on those who are to respond, including use of appropriate automated, electronic, mechanical, or other technological collection techniques or other forms of information technology.

What can you do?

Comment! You can use bits and pieces of the Roundtable's comment or copy it and put it on your own letterhead, although some personalization always goes further. You can comment directly in the "comment" box on regulations.gov or upload a PDF. Once your comment is written it takes two minutes to submit it. Just click the green button at the top of the page that says "submit a formal comment."

If you haven't already, please fill out the Leadership Development in CACFP Survey! Whether you see yourself as a leader or not, we want to hear about it.

If you already filled it out, forward it to your colleagues!
