Below is the table of reimbursement rates from the Federal Register.Vol. 88, No. 129, Friday, July 7, 2023. Rates are effective as of July 1, 2023. Find the notice here.
Please note, if you read the notice, it states that rates have increased but that is not what CACFP Operators will actually experience. In particular for family child care providers paid at the Tier II rate. Tier II providers have been paid at the Tier I rate for two years and will now be reimbursed at the actual Tier II rates. In the 2022-2023 Federal Register Notice there are two tables. Table 1 is the chart that shows the rates CACFP operators have been paid for the last year. Table 2 is the chart that shows what the rates were without the Keep Kids Fed Act in place. Table 2 is what USDA FNS is comparing the new rates to in the 2023-2024 Federal Register Notice. National CACFP Sponsors Association breaks this down meal by meal here.
It is important to note that the harmful tier II system by which family child care providers are reimbursed has been reinstated because the Keep Kids Fed Act expired on June 30th. Along with that expiration is the additional ten cents for each reimbursable meal served in CACFP. Advocates across the nation are imploring Congress to extend the Keep Kids Fed Act for these vital resources. Learn more about the advocacy here.
