Join us for a professional development course designed to grow and refine your leadership skills for your career in community nutrition. The Institute is overseen by leadership faculty and each student will be assigned a CACFP mentor as we work through the modules designed specifically for CACFP professionals seeking to elevate their leadership skills.

Rachel H Rice, PhD

Dr. Rice is an experienced educator and brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her faculty role for the CACFP Leadership

Institute. With over two decades of experience in education, Dr. Rice is known for fostering educational excellence and inspiring students in the classroom. She holds a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from San Diego State University and a PhD in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego.  Dr. Rice's expertise in leadership and her deep commitment to education makes her a visionary with a pivotal role in promoting and growing leaders through CACFP Roundtable.

DATES

The CACFP Leadership Institute consists of six modules that will be explored across 7 weeks of learning. We will offer at least 2 cohorts in 2025:

  • COHORT 1: January - February 2025

    • Workshop dates/times:

      • January 8, 2:30-3:30 PM

      • January 22, 2:30-4:00 PM

      • February 5, 2:30-4:00 PM

      • February 26, 2:30-3:30 PM​

  • COHORT 2 begins in March

Blended Learning.

There will be four live workshops (1 to 1.5 hours each) space two weeks apart. The workshops will include a mix of expert speakers, lectures, small group exercises, mentor collaborations, and networking.

 

In between workshops, you will be expected to complete asynchronous, self-paced lessons including readings and reflective activities related to the module. Our faculty has designed the curriculum to be easy to follow and to take about one hour a week to complete.

Wherever you are on your leadership journey, the CACFP Leadership Institute will meet you where you are. The curriculum was designed with the CACFP community in mind and will help you grow the leader that already exists within you.

Mentors and Small Cohorts.

Each student will be paired with a CACFP mentor and a small peer group. This unique model will ensure you leave the CACFP Leadership Institute with deep connections and relationships that extend far beyond the 6 week course. 

 

Space is limited to ensure meaningful relationships are built and meaningful engagement is had between each student, mentor, and faculty.
